What you may sell

Last updated October 18, 2026

What a seller may and may not sell in a store on GateVentory, and what it agrees to.

1. The short version

Sell anything that is legal, safe and genuine, to the people the law lets you sell it to. Where a product needs a license, you hold it. Where it may only go to licensed professionals or adults, sell it through a private gate that checks.

Your payments go through Stripe, and through PayPal if you connect it. Their rules apply to every store here, and where they are stricter than ours, theirs win: Stripe's prohibited and restricted businesses and PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy.

2. Never allowed

  • Anything illegal where you sell it or where it is shipped to. Stolen goods.
  • Counterfeits, replicas, "inspired by" copies of a brand, and anything that infringes someone else's trademark or copyright.
  • Products that are recalled, expired, tampered with, or unsafe to use as sold.
  • Prescription drugs, and skincare that needs a prescription, such as tretinoin or hydroquinone.
  • Botox and other injectables, dermal fillers, and the needles and cannulas sold to inject them.
  • Marijuana and THC products, and CBD or hemp in anything eaten, drunk or taken as a supplement.
  • Drugs, drug paraphernalia, and substances sold to act like drugs, such as kratom, SARMs or "research" peptides.
  • Supplements with prescription ingredients, or sold with claims that they cure or treat a disease.
  • Tobacco, nicotine, vapes and e-liquids.
  • Firearms, ammunition, their parts, regulated weapons and knives, explosives and fireworks.
  • Sexually explicit material, adult products and adult services.
  • Hazardous, toxic or radioactive materials, human body parts or fluids (hair is fine), and products of endangered wildlife.
  • Money in another form: gift cards for other businesses, cryptocurrency, investments, gambling and sweepstakes.
  • Products sold with fake reviews, false claims, or hidden charges.

3. Allowed only to licensed buyers

These may be sold, but only to buyers the law lets you sell them to, and only where the brand lets you resell them. Put them behind a private gate whose form asks for the buyer's license as a document, and approve each buyer by hand.

  • Professional devices, such as microneedling pens, lasers, IPL, radio-frequency and HIFU devices, and medical-grade LED.
  • Professional-strength peels and other products marked for professional use only.
  • Tattoo and permanent makeup supplies. Needles must be sterile and sealed.

Medical devices also need your payment partner's approval: PayPal asks for it for every medical device, and Stripe for regulated ones. Email us before you list one.

4. Allowed once approved

These need a license of your own, and Stripe's or PayPal's approval for your store. Email us first, and do not list them until we confirm the approval is in place.

  • Alcohol, with the state licenses it needs, an age check, and an adult's signature on delivery.
  • CBD skincare and other topicals with almost no THC, each with a lab certificate showing it is within the federal limit.
  • Home-use devices cleared by the FDA, such as home laser hair removal or LED masks, with the clearance number on file.

5. Allowed, with care

  • Cosmetics and skincare, described for what they do to how skin looks and feels. Claims that a product treats acne, protects from the sun, or changes the body make it a drug, and it must then meet the FDA's rules for one, as sunscreens and acne products do.
  • Salon-only and professional brands, where you have the right to resell them. Do not call yourself an authorized dealer unless you are one.
  • Vitamins and supplements with lawful ingredients and no disease claims.
  • Nail polish, acetone, aerosols and other products that are hazardous to ship, shipped as the law requires.
  • Jewelry. High-value jewelry, precious metals and stones need your payment partner's approval.

6. Your part

By opening a store you agree to these, and they are part of our Terms:

  • You are the seller of everything in your store, under your own name. You alone answer for your products, how you describe them, and what you promise about them.
  • Before you list a product, you hold every license, permit and approval it needs, and keep them current. You show them to us within five business days of our asking.
  • Where a product may only go to adults or to licensed professionals, you check before you sell, keep a record, and do not ship to anyone who does not qualify.
  • You sell genuine, safe, lawfully labeled products, and make no medical claims the law does not allow. If a product is recalled, you take it down at once, tell the shoppers who bought it, and handle their refunds.
  • Stripe's and PayPal's rules are part of this agreement. A product they must approve stays out of your store until they have.
  • You cover our losses and legal costs from claims about your products, as the Terms say.

7. What we do

If something in a store breaks these rules, the law, or a payment partner's rules, we act on the product first: we may hide it. Where that is not enough, we may close the store to shoppers, pause its payments, or close the account, and we may tell Stripe or PayPal. Where we can, we tell you first and give you time to put it right. Where the law or a shopper's safety needs it, we act at once.

To report a store, email support@gateventory.com with its web address and what you saw.
